Champagne makers can raise a glass!
– for what is considered to be record harvest and a vintage year –
Due to climate changes producers can expect to harvest the grapes earlier than usual. Even if normal harvest was scheduled for September and October, this year has begun since August.
The majority of wine growers are proud of the grapes and are announcing some great quality products from this exceptional harvest.
Jean-Marie Barillere, president of the Champagne houses’ union declares that this is a premiere in the Champagne region in terms of quantity and quality.
Weather is a prime factor in the quality of the products and these changes and the early harvest have been enthusiastically welcomed after several years of unsatisfying crops as a result of the bad weather.
